ARRO Update Continued

ARRO Update Continued…

Alas our Autumn Fayre had to be cancelled. In the end we didn’t have enough donations or stall holders, so we called it off. Our Petticoat Lane trip to London was alos cancelled due to lack of interest, and illness, and we were sorry we had to disappoint those who had booked. However, we will try again — probably next year — and hopefully generate more interest.

The trip to see Blackpool illuminations went off as planned, and everyone had a good time, especially me (because it was my birthday). I had some lovely cards and presents from all of you and really enjoyed my day. Thanks a lot!

The last open meeting we had at Brookhouse Green School was not well attended, but thanks to those who braved the weather and turned up. Gilliat & Fullwood Residents’ Association were there (many thanks to Joyce Watkins and friends), and our guests were Joan Phillips from Chell Heath Estate Management Board and Ian Powell from the Priority Estates Project (PEP). We discussed some points about privatisation and Compulsory Competitive Tendering (CCT). More about this when we get the full info. Many thanks to my committee members and friends for their help in putting out leaflets in the freezing cold, and for turning out on the night.

Finally, some of us have recently been to the YMCA in Hanley and taken a Community Playleader course sponsored by Kevin Sauntry and Jenny Dennis of the Community & Recreation Dept, Hanley Park. Our thanks go to all for training (and passing!) us. It was a great course, and we really enjoyed it, as well as learning a great deal of useful stuff. Others have expressed an interest in going on the next one that comes up, and we hope it will be soon. Many thanks too to Stoke City Council, and David knight, for setting it up.
